We're celebrating all women during Women's History Month this March. Join us as we spotlight women who are making an impact in music, both locally and nationally. Here are some ways you can support:
- Summerfest Playlist - We put together a playlist of some of our favorite Women In Music that have released new music in 2020 or 2021. Give them a listen below. Be sure to check out our playlist from 2018 as well, or rock out to the setlist from Janelle Monae's 2018 show here.
- FemFest: Portraits of Femme - Milwaukee artist B~Free hosts ten women & femme-identifying artists in celebration of International Women’s Day by "presenting a diverse array of cover performances & stories on songs by women musicians who’ve inspired them." Details for this March 8th event can be found here.
- Radio Milwaukee - Every Saturday night during March, tune into 88Nine Radio Milwaukee to hear DJ Kenny spin tunes from talented local women artists. Plus, if you’re looking for a show, the Hoan bridge lights will sync to his show. More details can be found here.
- Milwaukee Film - Milwaukee Film is celebrating "...women filmmakers, the stories they create, and the barriers all women still face in being their authentic selves," including a movie about Sophia Chang, the first Asian woman in hip-hop who has worked with Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest. Details about that screening and conversation happening on March 25 can be found here.
