Senri Oe, Jazz Pianist & Composer – ‘Pop meets jazz. Jazz meets pop’

Senri Oe has released the sixth jazz album which is his first-ever trio titled Hmmm last September, 2019 on PND Records / Sony Music Diredt / Sony Music Masterworks.  Hmmm follows a remarkable career as a former J-Pop superstar in the 80’s and 90’s.  Leaving his pop career behind in 2008 to pursue his true dream of becoming a jazz artist, Senri moved to New York to study at the New School for Jazz, and subsequently released the BOYS & GIRLS (2018), ANSWER JULY (2016), COLLECTIVE SCRIBBLE (2015), SPOOKY HOTEL (2013) and BOYS MATURE SLOW (2012) albums.

As a multi-faceted singer songwriter, actor and radio host in Japan, Senri was the recipient of a Japanese Grammy®, topped the Billboard charts, headlined stadiums, performed on TV soap operas, and had his hits used for major Japanese TV commercials, movies and more. Since his drastic change of music career launched on 2012 jazz album debut, Senri has long thrived on building relationships with other artists and creating fresh musical collaborations, as he produced and arranged a collaborative recording by Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer;  recorded with renowned jazz vocal greats Sheila Jordan, Theo Bleckmann, Becca Stevens and Lauren Kinhan of the Grammy winning vocal ensemble New York Voices.

Before Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Senri Oe has performed at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival, Albania Jazz Festival, Blue Note NY, Smalls, Blue Note Hawaii, Blue Note Tokyo, Vitello’s in Los Angeles, PianoForte in Chicago, Gregory’s Jazz Club in Rome and many more.  Aside from Blue Note NY, he often performs at NYC venues such as Tomi Jazz, Zinc, the Jazz Gallery, Birdland Theater, Soho House, Smalls and Dixon Place. He has invited to be a guest on numbers of television, radio and online news. During this pandemic, there were 3 point worthy of his aggressive challenge, such as many charities streaming at home toward Mexico, Canada, Ireland, Asia and U.S., llive performance at Blue Note New York streaming to Japan, and his short piano solo TOGETHERNESS was selected as top 40 songs about the corona pandemic by AP press with Bon Jovi, Bono, Gloria Estephen, Alicia Keys, Rolling Stones, Nora Jones, and etc

Senri Oe creates a special and unique jazz by combination between Japanese music pop tunes and New York Jazz soul. And the big feature of Senri Oe is a great music entertainer who can create a music bridge between him and the audience beyond generations on the stage.
